THE ART

Admission is free to this two day festival showcasing our nation’s fine artists.  This show is a juried fine art festival. Each artist is hand selected to ensure unique, original, and first class artwork. Artists’ work will include painting in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, drawings in pencil, pastel, and charcoal, as well as elegant bronze, stone, metal, and luminous glass sculptures. In addition to functional and non-functional ceramics, there will also be one-of-a-kind jewelry, as well as black&white and color photography, and much, much more!

THE MUSIC
Our musical theme this year  will feature international artists and music.

Saturday

10:30 am to  11 am Interactive kids drum circle hosted by Community Drums. All drums provided. – When DRUMMING is present in COMMUNITIES, a sense of rhythm and harmony are created that transcends language so that when we do speak there is another level of   understanding. http://www.communitydrums.com/.

11:30 to 12:00 pm – SANTEMU – African storyteller and musician. Santemu has been promoting cultural understanding and entertainment for more than 20 years. In West Africa a person is not considered truly educated until they learn a series of stories and proverbs designed to teach them a healthy way of living. Santemu carries on that rich tradition. Using drums, shakers, kalimba and flute, Santemu has been singing traditional African folk songs and telling African myths and stories.

12:45 to 2:30  Musical Missions Of Peace
Fighting fear with music. Called “Singing in Baghdad,” the program features Cameron Powers and Kristina Sophia, founders of Musical Missions for Peace. This powerful and heartwarming presentation includes slides and stories from their recent travels in Middle Eastern countries and live music by these two very talented musicians. Cameron plays a favorite musical instrument of the Arabs called the Oud and he and Kristina both sing in Arabic. Cameron and Kristina founded Musical Missions for Peace as their own way to contribute to world peace. When traveling in the Arab world, they are musical ambassadors with a message of common humanity, friendship and peace. When traveling in the US, they are a cultural bridge bringing back the messages of beauty, generosity and hospitality from the Arab people they have met. http://www.musicalmissionsofpeace.org/

3 pm to 5 pm  -  Afro Samba world music ensemble consisting of guitar, bass, violin and drums and is led by guitarist Mike Brick. Playing a wide variety of original music with an emphasis on Brazilian Boss / Samba with elements of Rumba Flamenco, the Tango, Afro Cuban and Afro-Beat. They are a melting pot of the best musical stylings from around the world played by world class musicians.

6:30 to 8:30 Hot Summer Street Salsa Dance and Concert featuring Manuel Molina

Latin Jazz guitarist Manuel Molina has a sultry feel that has made Manuel one of the most sought after Latin guitarists and entertainers in his field. His unique style showcases the richness and diversity of his classical background from the Conservatory of Lima, Peru. Hot Molina has traveled the world for 11 years providing professional entertainment for the United States Department of Defense overseas. The bands repertoire includes high energy interactive Salsa, Pop and Rumba.They will have your guests Mamboing and Congaing around the dance floor! Each performer creates a vibe that is all their own. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to party with Hot Molina!

12:30 pm to 2:30 pm Peace&Love&Jigs&Reels – Celtic Trio
This trio brings you the richness of Celtic music on Irish flute, alto flute, guitar, percussion and vocals. As the heart of the e  group, Gregg Hansen and Cynthia Gaffe draw in audiences with their jubilant energy, tight musical arrangements, soulful expressiveness, stories, humor and varied world music influences. At festivals or by the hearth, Peace & Love & Jigs & Reels brings the music and spirit of the Celts right into the listener’s heart.

3:30 pm to 5:30 pm Skanson and Hansen CD release concert
The Colorado Double Fingerstyle Guitar Duet of Skanson & Hansen brings to the world a new and exciting sound. The duo of Darren Curtis Skanson (classical guitar) and Gregg Hansen (acoustic guitar) have a sound so unique you have to hear it to believe it. The combination of nylon and steel strings delights and soothes audiences everywhere. Their new CD “Two Guitars Can Change The World” has a  variety fresh arrangements of such 60’s and 70’s conscious classics as the Beatles-”All You Need Is Love” and “Blackbird”, John Lennon’s “Imagine”, ‘One Love’ by Bob Marley, and Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind”. They even cover U2’s’ 90’s classic – “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Lookin’ For”. It’s second nature for Skanson & Hansen to flow from American folk tune “Shenandoah” to Bach’s “Bouree in E Minor” to Clapton’s “Tears In Heaven” and back.
