Takoda Tavern – A Sports Bar in Parker CO

By Ask Chrissy

I have been waiting for this sports bar to open for about 18 months and in fact signed the petition that went around so that they could get their liquor license and I wasn’t disappointed.

Takoda Tavern Parker Colorado Sports Bar

It is located on the Corner of Hess and Parker Road up on the hill with a KILLER view of our gorgeous Rocky Mountains and   I bet the night lights are just as fabulous as sunset was.  12311 Pine Bluffs Way It has your typical sports bar menu with a few surprises like Sweet potato fries as an option for only $1.00 more with any sandwich.  Happy hour runs to 6:30 p.m. and is changing on a daily basis right now, so stay tuned!  That night it was $1 off well drinks and tap beer for $2.50.  Tap choices include Coors, Shock Top, Guiness and Stella.

hot shot burger and onion rings at Takoda Tavern in Parker CO Sports BarWe sampled the chicken burrito which was HUGE, came smothered with yummy green chili.. not too spicy, but very flavorful and sides of salsa, chips and sour cream for $7.95, and the Hot Shot Burger (it was HOT… ) Jalepenos on top, Pepper Jack cheese and that same good green chili that the burrito was smothered in with onion rings for $1 buck more. .

There are about 6 nice big screen TV’s and lots of Bronco Fan paraphernalia.  The owner BOB.. (he wanted to make sure I spelled his name right) is a Parker local for about 20 years and came to introduce himself right after we sat down and got our drinks.

There is also a stage where he is having live music this Friday and Saturday night.

Tell Bob “Your Web Chick” sent you. :)

Takoda is an Indian word which means “A Friend to All” And you will feel that atmosphere the minute you walk in the door.

I live right down the street. ill have to check it out. usually, new bars have great deals then they raise the prices. your comment about happy hour changing daily is code word to me that they are trying varying price points.

My husband and I visited Takoda on Monday night (planning to watch the Broncos game) and were very disappointed with the service. Not only were the tables NOT cleaned off, but when we sat down, we waited for 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. We noticed several other tables with people sitting at them had finished their drinks and were waiting for refills which didn’t seem to happen very quickly. We left the bar and went over to Tequila Joes where we had exceptional service…and $1 draft beer during any NFL game. Can’t beat that! I would definitely not recommend Takoda Tavern to anyone and will never be back. In my opinion, this will be another Parker restaurant/bar that doesn’t make it.

Some friends and I went to Takoda Friday after work ready for a nice happy hour. Well, this place doesn’t have happy hour on Fridays. We decided to stay and by the end of the night were wishing we had left after we got the happy hour news. A small margarita cost close to $10, a blue moon in a bottle was $5 and the service, as mentioned in another review was questionable. Our waitress blamed the bar all night long for our slow service but after observing the bartender noticed that our drinks were ready but just sitting on the bar most of the night. I would also NOT recommend Takoda Tavern to anyone and will never go back. The manager was also quite rude when we questioned some of the prices. Probably not the best way to start up a new business.

We went to Takoda on Friday, 10/16 shortly before 6p. We sat for >5 minutes before we were acknowledged. Food took >45 to be served. Place was busy but not packed. Other servers seem to keep up, but not ours. We sat w/ empty beer glasses for >10 minutes before she aked if we wanted another. I timed it because I couldn’t believe it was such bad service. The food was very good. We’ll try it one more time but if service is this bad again, we’ll walk out & not return. And the owner was very rude to us. He didn’t seem to care about service & never even apologized.

We sat for 20 minutes without getting acknowledged. My wife ordered the burrito and it came out cold. The service was very slow and manager was rude. This bar won’t last long. Don’t waste your time or money at this place.

We went to Takoda on Saturday, Oct. 24 and had a miserable experience. The service was horrible. After waiting for approximately 10 minutes to be acknowledged, our waitress finally came around and took our order. When she brought our drinks, she noticed that one of the glasses of beer wasn’t full to the top so she said she’d have the bartender top it off for us – We didn’t ask for this. We watched the bartender’s reaction, she took a straw and stirred up the beer and gave the waitress a dirty look. The owner then filled it full and gave the waitress a hard time the whole way back to the table saying to her that if she spilled it, she’d owe him money for the beer. VERY unprofessional and VERY disappointed in the service and atmosphere. We definitely will NOT be back again.

Enjoyed the fabulous tavern style food, at a fair price. Nice to see a menu with solid food in a family owned place. Good bison burgers for lots less than Ted’s Montana. Best smothered green chili burrito around.

Went for the first time tonight with my wife and daughter. Really liked the location and atmosphere. Lots of people there having a good time. Service was OK – not great, but really OK for a new place. The manager was very friendly and chatted with us for a while. Just had a pizza and some chips & salsa, but they were quite good. We’ll definitely be back.

At last a good reason to go out again in Parker. Good, clean, cheerful place with a fun variety of food that wont break your budget.
Lot’s of people from the neighborhoods come to visit and meet old friends. Bad time to open a new restaurant? Not from the looks of this place. If you build it, (and make real quality food), they WILL come.

Here’s a nice new place to catch the Broncs or other games on big screens. Gets busy. Lots of people eating the can’t be beat chicken
wings. For seven something for ten.

Wonder why so many Parker places are either closed or closing?
Boring, for one, or dumpy for two. Takoda is a place where adults can come, relax and meet up with friends and have fun. Kinda like a cross between a reunion and a reception. Music, TV’s, a nice big patio with a view. I took friends from out of town and they loved it. A good mix of ages and occupations. Casual. Good food at good prices.

I’m not sure so many negative comments have come in about this place. I’ve been frequenting Takoda over the past month and I’ve yet to have a negative experience. The prices are very good and I’ve always found the service to be amazing. The bartenders and wait staff are top notch, very attentive and always ready to assist. The food is excellent and as far as cleanliness goes, this place is nearly spotless. I really have to challenge the other reviews on this site. This place is a great neighborhood bar and I highly recommend it. You will have a good time.

Thanks so much for commenting Bronco Billy, Family Guy and Les… I totally agree with you… The only problem I’ve had is that I get there too late and there are no tables left… everyone however always looks to be having a good time!

Bob, the owner, is one of the most attentive managers I’ve seen in years. I’ve seen him schlept food, water, dirty dishes and still manages to open the door for you when you leave. To me, he appears more than willing to set an example for his wait staff to follow. If the food is slow, relax. Isn’t that why you went there in the first place. If you’re in a hurry, there’s a McDonalds down the street. Seasoned bar help is always in demand. Maybe Bob is giving a few “youngsters” a chance to learn the biz during these tough economic times. Why not talk to him instead of whining so much. Oh, because it’s easier – foolish me. Takoda Tavern is refreshing with great spirit and energy. Visit the next time a band called Blues Rambler is there. You won’t be disappointed.

I was referred to this restaurant by a friend. I went with two of my buddies on a Saturday afternoon. The service was fine, the owner was very engaging and most importantly the food quality was OUTSTANDING! I hope the people who have had a bad experience here, said something to the owner before they left. That’s how places get better. I would recommend this place to anyone. I’m going back there tonight. By the way, my grandson loves the Hot Burger. They even gave us a discount because we were veterans.

Went there a few weeks ago shortly after it opened on a Fri or Sat night. It was not too busy at the time and there was a live band playing. It is certainly something different that far south. Sort of the polar opposite of somewhere like the Tailgate. More yuppie, light, clean and new compared to old dark biker bar. Both are fine with me.

Service was not very good. It took too long to put in our first order but it came out fast enough. If you like spicy try the fried jalapeno rings. The initial wait was nothing to how long it took to get refills or to even see our waitress near us. We did see her standing around though. Almost go to the point I felt like yelling “HEY YOU”.

Service was not bad enough to not try it again someday.

Great location, great service, great food, great music and very cool owner who is on-site. The bartenders, Jen and Houston, are beautiful, smart and wiley! I’d go just to see them and stay for the rest. Killer breath of fresh air from the crappy Tailgate, sleasy Buffalo Boyds and rundown Funugyz.

Oh, My God. Someone finally got it. Excellent bar food, good place to meet friends and neighbors, nice patios, drink specials. All ages here.
Open and clean. Bands, TV’s, gourmet burgers, bison, and burritos.
Now, that wasn’t hard, was it? Way to go Takoda Tavern, we can come out of our ParkerCaves now. It’s 2010, let’s get back to where we once belonged.

We were excited to have a sports bar open close to home, but after giving Takota a few chances I doubt it will remain open for long. The food is a typical bar fare and has always been hot, but the service is just plain bad. It’s frustrating to have an empty glass sit for ten minutes & see other customers waiting to be served, while watching the staff gathered in the corner talking on their cell phones or with each other, eating, or outside smoking on the front steps. They simply do not care about their customers. I’ve read some posts above about the owner and his work ethic, and we’ve seen the same from him. But for whatever reason he lets his staff get away with slacking off, and without repeat customers he’ll be closing his doors because of it.
