Register for Echo Mountain Park Ski/Snowboard Trips

Echo Mountain is Denver’s inexpensive and fresh backyard ski and snowboard area. Skip I-70, long lift lines and huge crowds and you’ll be hitting the slopes in less than an hour from just about anywhere along Denver’s Front Range.

On Jan. 17, Feb. 21 and March 13, participants depart from the Lone Tree Recreation Center (10249 Ridgegate Circle, 303.708.3500) at 8 a.m. sharp and return from Echo Mountain around 4 p.m. The fee is $75 and includes transportation, lift ticket, lesson and rental but may be adjusted to suit your needs. Interested chaperones receive a free lift ticket and transportation.

Inline hockey teams now forming at the Parker Fieldhouse

Registration is open for both divisions of adult inline hockey leagues. Both the  “B” – the recreational league and “BB” – the competitive league will play their season at the Parker Fieldhouse.

The fall season runs September 9 through mid November with the winter season starting the first week in December.

Registration is by team only unless otherwise stated.

Indoor climbing walls have certainly become all the rage in recent years and luckily the Parker Recreation Center installed one at The Parker Fieldhouse. The Fieldhouse climbing wall is called “The Pinnacle” and is going to be the home of a continuing indoor climbing wall tournament series.

Who can compete? Youth ages 6 to 18 will test their skills on challenging routes from 5.6 to 5.12 in difficulty.

A tournament entry fee of $10 includes daily admission to the Fieldhouse, harness and shoe rental for those who do not have their own equipment and all participants will receive a special T-shirt. Highest total scores in three age divisions receive trophies.

The Pinery Art Show

The Pinery Art show in it’s 9th year sponsored by the Pinery Homeowners Association in Parker CO

This year to attract even more shoppers, the PHA is holding the art show the same day as the Pinery Picnic & Fishing Derby.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Picnic (Lakeshore Park)
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Art Show (Lakeshore Park)

Art in several mediums will be included:

  • acrylic painting,
  • watercolor painting,
  • drawings of various media,
  • mixed media,
  • photography,
  • pottery,
  • sculpture,
  • glassware and
  • custom gold & silver jewelry.

This is a juried show so the quality will be top notch.

This year there is also a young artists section to promote and support a love of the arts and creativity for the younger artists in Colorado. Categories for 1 to 10 year old and 13 to 18 year old.

Concessions and face-painting will also be part of the festivities.

There will live entertainment in the gazebo both days. The Parker Chorale and an ensemble from the Denver Performing Arts HS will perform on Saturday and Sunday.

The Town of Parker, Sunday afternoon concert will be from 1 to 3 pm.

This is a family friendly event with things for the kids to do including a face painting booth (for a small charge)  and a childrens art station sponsored by The Academy of Art in Parker where you create your own art project.

Soft drinks, snacks and hot entrée lunches will be sold both days.

The art show is sponsored by the Parker Artists Guild (PAG) of Parker. PAG membership includes artists from Parker, Castle Rock, Aurora, Highlands Ranch, Douglas and Elbert County and the south metro area.
Membership is open to all media. PAG was formed in 2001 and has grown to about 200 members this year. Our mission is to promote the visual arts and raise awareness of local artists in the community. Hundreds of participants have discovered what all of the Zumba® hype is about! Parker Recreation is saying, “thank you for helping to make the Zumba Fitness program so fun and successful!” August is Zumba Appreciation Month and participants will receive a 20 percent discount when registering for any scheduled Zumba class throughout August.

Registration opens Aug. 3.

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you’ve got a Zumba class!

Are you ready to try it out? A FREE Zumba party is being held on Friday, Aug. 6 at 5 p.m. at the Parker Recreation Center, 17301 E. Lincoln Ave. The Zumba Party is walk-in only.
