Things to do this weekend in Parker CO July 29-August 1 2010
Posted by: | CommentsThings are busy in the Town of Parker this weekend with two fund raising events and one just for fun event.
July 29, 30 & 31 – Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. everyone is invited to come and enjoy over 70 local thespians perform The Music Man at the Parker United Methodist Church. All proceeds from the $10 admission go directly to the Parker Task Force.
July 30 & 31 – Friday and Saturday night join with your friends and neighbors for the July Wine Walks in Olde Town Parker Colorado. $10 cash buys you a commemorative sampling wine glass and tickets to taste wine at the participating businesses along Mainstreet and Victorian. The wine walk runs from 5-8 p.m.
July 31 & August 1 – Saturday and Sunday marks the annual Parker Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Support your favorite team for this important fund raising event to fund research for cancer cures.
Sundays now through September don’t forget the Parker Farmers Market on Mainstreet
Lots of indoor movie entertainment this weekend in Parker to either escape the heat or the rainstorms, whichever decide to plague you on another typical July day in Colorado.
AMC has weekday getaway value pricing on blockbuster movies for the budget minded. All movies are half price all day Monday through Thursday and before noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Not valid for weekday openings and holiday periods.

Parker Relay for Life® this July 31 Salisbury Park
Posted by: | CommentsCancer affects everyone across the United States. The residents of Parker Colorado have organized teams in the Relay for Life® to help raise money to fund research to help find a cure and support those who are cancer survivors.
In this relay, teams participate and walk for a full 24 hours in support of loved one’s, family or community members. 227 participants on 28 teams have raised $36,483.84 for the American Cancer Society. Way to go Parker!
There are three ways to participate and three ways to donate to this local event in Parker.
3:00 PM July 31 – 8:00 AM August 1, 2010 at Salisbury Equestrian Park

As of Thursday July 29th, the following teams are leading the pack.

5 – Chicks for a Cure ($2,310.00)
The Parker Academy of Martial Arts is walking in memory Gerald Lynford Gunter and had a goal of raising $2000. The owner, his family, staff and martial artists are extremely happy to have met and exceeded their goal.
Many of the employee’s of the Town of Parker are participating as well on the Tiki Troop. You can see their progress here.

On July 31st and August 1st “Save and Score Weekend” at Tagawa there are ongoing specials and 10 percent of all purchases will go towards the Denver Bronco Charities.

Melon Daze! A new family event featuring classes and fun involving melons along withlocally grown melons of all types will be available for purchase.

Mat. Fee: $7 (for lids, jars, etc.) Limit: 15 children (each must be accompanied by an adult) please register for this class!

12:30-1:30 pm, The Embellished Melon, Helen Lozynsky. Carve your own melon masterpiece –Bring a cantaloupe, a pairing knife and a cutting board. The class includes a discussion on how to grow melons plus their use in salads and as dessert. Limit: 25 adults, please register for this class!
2:30-3:30 pm, Kid’s “Melon Balloon” Toss.

Big Dogs Huge Paws believes giant breeds of dogs are unceasingly loyal and loving, yet very expensive and sometimes overwhelming due to their massive size and need for constant human attention. Big Dogs Huge Paws volunteers work to rescue, foster and place huge dog breeds in new forever homes. To that end they are having a fundraiser in Parker where you can microchip your dogs for only $35.00.
What: Microchip Clinic to benefit Big Dogs Huge Paws Rescue
When: Saturday, August 21st, 2010 10 a.m.– 2 p.m.

Big Dogs – Huge Paws Rescue is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating unwanted giant breed dogs that have been mistreated, neglected, abused and/or abandoned.

DETF provides essential services of rent, utilities, food, clothing, household items, information and referrals to other agencies that might be of service.
