Denver Dumb Friends League waiving adoption fees through Jan 29, 2011

Discounted, waived adoption fees through Jan. 29

Lost and found cats in colorado

Adopt a Cat or Dog from the Denver Dumb Friends League or the Buddy Center in Castle Rock CO

DENVER (Jan. 25, 2011) The Dumb Friends League is offering adopters a deal that’s affordable, fluffy and cute. Adoption fees are $75 off for all cats and dogs, 4 months and older, through Jan. 29 at both shelter locations. Adult cats can be adopted at no cost and adopters can take home an adult dog for as little as $25.

The special will take place at the Quebec Street shelter in Denver and the Buddy Center in Castle Rock. Each pet’s adoption fee include includes a spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccinations, microchip ID implant, 15-day post-adoption health support and a free office visit with a participating veterinarian.

“We’re offering this adoption special because we would rather see more pets in loving homes than in our shelters,” said Bob Rohde, president and CEO. “We also want to encourage more people to adopt their next furry family member.”

As of today, there are nearly 1,000 pets in the Dumb Friends League’s care. The region’s largest animal welfare organization takes in more than 68 pets each day at their two shelter locations.

“Our goal with this promotion is to find homes for dozens of pets in our care,” said Theresa Geary, vice president of operations. “The more animals we adopt, the more space we’ll have for other homeless pets looking for second chances at finding happiness.”

Although adoption fees will be waived and discounted, donations are appreciated. The Dumb Friends League is an independent, private, nonprofit organization that relies on donations. It spends approximately $300 on each homeless pet, including shelter and medical care.

In addition to sheltering and adopting homeless pets, the League offers other services for pets and people, including lost and found, foster care, behavior training, humane education, animal cruelty investigations and donor-subsidized spay/neuter surgeries for pets in underserved areas of metro Denver.

Trying out a new venue for yet another free concert in the Park in Parker, The Outfit will entertain music fans on the South lawn of the Parker Library just west of downtown Parker.

Saturday, August 28, 2010 – 7:00pm

Parker Public Library South Lawn
10851 South Crossroads Drive (Map)
Parker, CO 80134

Please bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics and non-alcoholic beverages along to enjoy this band that was nominated for best Lo-Fi/Garage Rock band in the Westword Music Showcase. No registration is required.  The band hopes to have it’s first album released before this concert so be ready to support local artists by purchasing one if you enjoy their music.

Their song ‘What Happened to You’ has been played on KTCL 93.3′s esteemed Locals Only show.

The Outfit Band includes five Colorado local musicians:

  • Eric Johnston
  • Casey Banker
  • RJ Powers
  • Mike King
  • Christopher Cain

“The Outfit is a big, hearty sound. It swirls and churns with the watery metallic of a motor’s hum. They teeter on the edge of throwing a rod and kicking the whole machine into chaos — but somehow, impossibly, they always throttle with a throaty obligatto — sometimes killing the engine altogether for a desperate breath, then violently firing the pistons into eloquent motion again before diving deeper into the emotional life of fire.”
— Jonathan Bitz, Denver Syntax Autumn 2009

Missoula Children’s Theatre Auditions – The Frog Prince
