Free Book and DVD Exchange at the Grange in Castle Rock Colorado

The Meadows sub-division in Castle Rock Colorado is kicking of the new year with their annual book and movie exchange. What a great idea to recycle and reuse those books you’ve already read, and movies you are tired of. It’s all free and you don’t have to donate to come and take advantage of the free books.
The exchange will take place at:
The Grange

Saturday, January 16, 2010, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Meadows Cultural Affairs Association* is promoting this community even to help you recycle books and movies for free which not only helps the environment but helps ease the strains on your pocketbook in this fluctuating economy. Castle Rock is full of book lovers, the local librarians in the area and on Twitter will agree so the area is perfect for this type of event.
Please bring your gently used books and DVD’s to The Grange Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday-Monday 12-5 p.m., now through Thursday, January 14. All types of books are accepted: fiction, non-fiction, young adult, children’s and DVD’s. They can not accept encyclopedias, reference books or VHS tapes.
Then, anyone in the community is invited to return on January 16, 2010 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. to browse through the stacks and pick out some favorites. You do not have to donate books in order to participate.
All leftover books and DVD’s will be donated to local non-profit associations.

Castle Rock offers tree recycling from December 26 – January 31, in the parking lots of:
Centennial Park (22 N. Gilbert St.)
Founders Park (4671 Enderud Blvd.)
Metzler Ranch Park (4175 Trail Boss Drive) MAP
Paintbrush Park (3492 Meadows Blvd.)

Mulch from the trees will be given away at the above parks Jan. 15 – March 15.
Englewood’s Parks Division is recycling Christmas trees Jan. 1-31 at the following locations: Bates/Logan Park, 2938 S. Logan St.;
Centennial Park, 4630 S. Decatur St., in the south parking lot;
Belleview Park, 5001 S. Inca St., in the south parking lot;
Miller Field, 3600 S. Elati St.
The trees will be turned into mulch, which will be available at no cost for residents to pick up. Info: 303-762-2520.
Highlands Ranch is recycling Christmas trees Dec. 25 – Jan. 18 at the following locations:
Redstone Park, 3280 Redstone Park Circle;
Toepfer Park, 9480 Venneford Ranch Road;
Dad Clark Park, 3385 Asterbrook Circle
Highland Heritage Regional Park, 9651 S. Quebec.

The Town of Castle Rock has partnered with DMA (Downtown Merchants Assn) to expand this traditional merchant Trick or Treating program to include a kid’s costume contest and pumpkin decoration in Festival Part. As Halloween falls on Saturday in 2009, Trick or Treat Street will be held on Friday. More>>
20th Anniversary of the ArtFest at Castle Rock CO

ArtFest Castle Rock Colorado
Saturday September 12, 2009 9:00am – 6:00pm
Sunday September 13, 2009 9:00am – 5:00pm
The 2009 Castle Rock Artfest is located in downtown Castle Rock at the Castle Rock Town Hall and Philip S. Miller Library Parking lots.
Admission is $5 each, $3 for Seniors, and Children under 12 are FREE.
On September 12 & 13 2009 more than 25,000 people will attend ArtFest and will be able to enjoy arts and crafts from over 180 artists from across the world. This art show is an eclectic mix of culture, art and entertainment in a casual outdoor setting. There is a Children’s Imagination Zone that this year. This is the 20th anniversary of this event and the artists are being invited to help create a commemorative mural for the occasion.
