Dallas’s novels explore themes of loyalty, friendship, and human dignity. Her ninth novel, Whiter Than Snow, opens in 1920 in Swandyke, a small town near Colorado’s Tenmile Range. One tragic spring afternoon, snow hurtles down from Jubilee Mountain high above the tiny hamlet, sweeping up everything in its path including nine young children walking home from school. The story takes the reader inside each of the affected families.Whiter Than Snow suggests that fate, chance, and even divine providence, are all woven into the fabric of everyday life. Through each character’s defining moment, the reader understands each parent’s purpose for living. In the end, it is a novel of forgiveness, redemption, survival, faith, and family.
