National Senior Health & Fitness Day – Senior Stroll
National Senior Health and Fitness Day – Senior Stroll
On Wednesday, May 30, an estimated 100,000 older adults will participate in local fitness activities throughout the country as part of the 25th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day®, the nation’s largest health and wellness event for older adults.
To celebrate this day, Parker Parks and Recreation will host the tenth annual Senior Stroll at 10 a.m. at O’Brien Park, 10795 Victorian Dr. This free event features a one-mile fun walk around the park, followed by a light breakfast, socializing with friends and exciting prize giveaways. Registration for the event is not required.
“Older adults at all levels of physical fitness are encouraged to participate in National Senior Health & Fitness Day,” says Patricia Henze, National Senior Health & Fitness Day program manager. “Our goals for Senior Day are to make exercise fun, to increase awareness of the benefits of a regular exercise program for older adults, and to encourage all older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness programs offered in their communities.”
Thank you to our 2018 Senior Stroll sponsors, ClearCaptions and MDVIP + Parker Square Family Practice.
In addition to events like the Senior Stroll, Parker Parks and Recreation offers many programs for active aging adults including SilverSneakers® by Tivity Health fitness programs, Arthritis Foundation exercise programs, Golden Yoga, Tai Chi, Aqua Aerobics, 50+ softball and basketball, pickleball and much more.
