girls day camp 300x200 Rock and Roll Day Camp for Girls from Liz Clark: Summer 2012Liz Clark, Colorado native and US/ Ireland‐based professional singer‐songwriter, is hosting a summer camp, “All Girl Band –  A Rock and Roll Day Camp for Girls” at a 30‐acre Parker‐area ranch this summer.

Liz will be returning to Colorado for a different and exciting project: a fun‐filled, weeklong workshop and mentoring program for girls ages 10‐16. The program ‐ designed for girls who have an interest in entering the music field, or who have a curiosity for sharing music ‐ aims to boost self‐esteem and collaboration. The workshops will encompass performance, singing, songwriting, guitar, piano, and recording. The camp will commence with a performance for friends and family.

Rock and Roll Day Camp Details

The weeklong camp will held on the following dates:

  • July 23rd‐28th
  • July 30th‐Aug 3rd
  • August 6th‐10th
  • August 13th‐18th
  • August 20th‐25th

Time: Noon to 4:00p.m.

Price: $200 for the week session (Monday‐Friday with a performance on Saturday).

The camp is held on The Clark’s 30 acre ranch in Parker, off Hilltop Road where campers will have use of outdoor and indoor space with all the guitars, amplifiers, microphones set up and ready to rock.

Camp is for 4 hours in the afternoons with 6-10 girls in total per week (Monday-Friday)

Day 1- The Band Gets Together- Discussion of musical influences, getting to know each other/skills evaluation, picture collage of rockin’ females, group song decision.

Day 2- The Band Rehearses- Practice group song, begin performance workshop, establish performance line-up (solo and group performances at the end of the week)

Day 3- The Band Writes- Songwriting workshop, learning musical structure of song, and writing a group song.

Day 4- The Band Goes Solo- Break down and one-on-one instruction on guitar, piano, percussion, bass, and singing.

Day 5- The Band Records- Recording workshop and tracking of group song (solo recordings can be done outside of allotted group time)

Day 6- The Band Rocks- Evening performance for family and friends of group song and individual pieces.

ABOUT LIZ CLARK

In 2010, Liz won the prestigious Lilith Fair Ourstage Songwriting Competition, where she performed live with EmmyLou Harris and Sarah McLachlan in the Lilith Fair Music Festival. Liz ‐ a professional musician for over a decade ‐ is completing her 5th studio album, “Lonely And The Moose,” a collaborative project with Irish singer/songwriter Tessa Perry. She was recently welcomed into the Arts for Health Programme in Ireland where she has developed a collaborative approach to the songwriting process in healthcare settings, using her musical and motivational skills with groups to write songs with Alzheimer’s patients.

Liz divides her time between performing and touring in Europe or The States and writing music in either her adopted home of West Cork, Ireland or Parker, Colorado.
