Youth ages 13 to 18 will expand football skills with the help of pro-football players, high school coaches and certified personal trainers from the Parker Recreation Center in the DJ Williams Combine Camp. This camp is designed to not only sharpen your football skills, but also gives you national exposure with college coaches through the DJ Williams website. Camp begins June 11 and ends June 13 from noon to 4 p.m. at Chaparral High School. For more information, visit www.djwilliamscombinecamp.com. Start Smart Basketball Camp at the Parker Fieldhouse, July 6 to 10 or July 13 to 17 is perfect for youth ages five to 15 years who want to perfect their skills in shooting, passing, offense and defense with the staff of Metropolitan State College. Registration is taken by Start Smart Basketball Camp only. Visit their website at www.startsmartbasketball.com, print off the registration form and mail it in or call 303.556.4823. Walk-in registrations are also accepted on the first day of camp pending space availability.
Chauncey Billups and his Basketball Academy are coming to the Parker Fieldhouse June 29 to July 2 in conjunction with Nothing But Net Elite Basketball. Chauncey Billups is a guard who plays for the Denver Nuggets. Youth ages 6 to 17 are welcome to attend. Details are available online at www.ParkerRec.com.
Challenger Sports Corporation is a British Soccer company that provides summer camp programs for youth of all ages. During this half day camp at Stroh Ranch soccer fields, July 6 to 10 and instructed by nationally qualified coaches, emphasis will be placed upon individual skill development, fundamental tactics, goal scoring and coached scrimmages. Youth ages three to 14 may register by session at www.challengersports.com. Those who register before May22 will receive a free soccer jersey.
The popular Jeff Huson Baseball Camp, July 7 to 10 for youth ages seven to 10 years will refine skills in hitting, throwing, catching, running and other aspects of the game. Jeff Huson, who spent 15 years in professional baseball, 10 of those years as an infielder in the majors with teams such as the Texas Rangers, Anaheim Angels and Chicago Cubs will conduct this camp at Salisbury Park.
Brian Langtry, All American and 2003 NLL Rookie of the Year will be conducting a Boys’ Lacrosse Camp at the Parker Fieldhouse June 2 to July 7 and July 14 to Aug. 25 for boys in grades two to 12. Fundamentals of box lacrosse and live game experience will all be taught.
Former Colorado National Team coaches Dix Baines (from Chaparral high school) and Bruce Barker (from Regis Jesuit high school) are teaming up to instruct a Girls’ Indoor Lacrosse Camp at the Parker Fieldhouse, July 8 to 9 where the focus of this camp is to introduce girls in grades five to eight to the equipment, basic skills, rules and fun of the game. A second camp session will take place July 15 to Aug. 6 where participants will play in a summer game series to practice all the new skills they learned in the earlier camp.
Black Bear Golf Club is partnering with Parker Recreation to offer golf instruction for youth ages five to 14 years with sessions beginning in May and end in Sept. The camps will focus on putting, short game and full swing principles while engaging children in golf rules and etiquette. Students receive four hours of professional group instruction, use of range balls during instruction, entry fee and a full agenda of golf activities. A Mini Cheer Camp conducted by the Ponderosa High School Mustang cheerleaders and their coaches for youth ages three to 12 years will be held June 1 to 3 at the Parker Recreation Center.
