Is there a senior center in Parker? Does anyone deliver meals on wheels, or have an outreach to the elderly who are living at home or with a family member? Also a Catholic priest who visits the elderly?
March 8th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
http://www.parkerseniorcenter.org/ is the website for the Parker Senior Center.

Will any communities/churches be organizing garage sales once this snow melts? And if so, where do you post? What are good sites to keep watch on?
March 27th, 2009 at 11:55 am
The sales will start up soon but most will be May through August. There are several communities and churches that do group sales! Various Parker Realtors usually sponsor and organize the neighborhood one’s… usually the Pinery, Stonegate, Stroh Ranch etc. If people are having their own sale they can list it here on my “Recession Buster Tip!” post here!
April 16th, 2009 at 10:16 am
Here you go.. and the First Parker Garage sale is listed.

I am a designer here in Parker, I would like to hold a seminar on Kitchen and Bath Design any ideas where I could hold one?
Thanks
April 30th, 2009 at 4:41 am
Your shop is pretty big.. why not hold it there? Other ideas would be rooms at the Mainstreet Center or restaurants that have extra rooms like The Egg and I, Warhorse, Tail Gate, Vines, or at one of the hotels on Crown Plaza. The woman that books the room is a member of the Chamber and is really great. I can’t remember her name, but if you contact the Chamber I’m sure they’d direct you to the right person. Hope that helps!

Which schools have the best scores and voted best by parents in Parker?
June 11th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Hey Peter, I’ve asked the question on Twitter.. My kids have grown up in the schools here so my information is outdated. I have heard only good things about Core Knowledge Charter school.. the only downside being transitioning to the “real world” when they move to the high school. Hopefully someone else with kids currently enrolled will come and give you some more information.

A New Resident Kathi Sent me this letter. Can anyone help her? I never homeschooled!
to Chrissy: I was wondering if you know of sports programs for 15 year olds who are home schooled? Especially, baseball! Also, a dance class for a 5 year old that is not that expensive.

You have a couple of options:
Hawks Baseball
Parker Fieldhouse Rec Leagues
Public School-their programs are still available to you as a homeschooler.
Here is a homeschool group in Parker: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PAHC/

My family is looking to relocate to Parker next month and we have a 4 and 1 year old. We’re looking for a good PreK program for the older one and part-time childcare for the younger one.
Can someone recommend a place that does both, is of higher quality but isn’t an arm and a leg?
Thanks and looking forward to the area!

I was very happy with Joyful Mission Preschool, and the preschool in the Methodist church on Parker Road. I’m sure other people might have different suggestions for you. Welcome to Parker!

@MovingSoon – My wife helped to open and run Parker Landing (north of Lincoln on Jordan). It is a privately owned and operated center by Taube and Ted Springston. Taube is a great director and always puts the kids first. She’s been in child care for LOTS of years and has great a staff. They have a full gym too, which is rarely seen at a child care center.
Otherwise I would also suggest Goddard (my wife is the director) but the one she runs is the one out by Southlands Mall (E-470/Smokey Hill). She knows the director of the one in Parker (Hilltop) but I don’t know enough about that center to say anything useful.
I will let my wife know about this posting and get her to chime in on it as well.

Thanks for the info, you two!
Another question – who’s the local cable tv/broadband internet provider? When we were there a week or two ago, I saw a LOT of sat dishes. We’ll be in Pinery Glen, FWIW.
September 10th, 2009 at 7:19 am
I use Comcast for cable/phone/internet and I’m happy with it. ) Look on this Parker site for some basic info. http://www.parkercolorado.net I think on the general info page it has utilities and phone numbers.

Are there any good antique or thrift stores in Parker? I will be in town for one week and would love to check out any good antique stores or gift shops in town.
September 24th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
Karrie… actually there are a couple… not exactly thrift stores.. but two consignment stores that have furniture and some bargains The Yellow Rose (Parker Road & LIncoln near the burger king) and Cotton Closet behind sonic on Lincoln and Jordon. My favorite shop happens to be owned by a friend of mine and is a rustic country antiquey gift shop called “fruits of our spirit” Becca is non-techie.. but I started her a facebook fan page here http://companies.to/fruitsofourspirit/ it gives you an idea of the cute stuff she has in the shop. It’s in the middle of downtown Parker aka Parker and Mainstreet.. The shop is just north of Vines Wine Bar.. another favorite spot of mine in Parker.

I need a bus or shuttle from the Timbers (south pinery) to Lincoln and dransfelt or parker and lincoln
October 5th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
Krista, There is a park and ride on North Pinery Parkway, I bet there is a schedule there… not sure about Timbers. Anyone else know?
October 16th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Is there an RTD or shuttle service between Parker and DIA? The town of Arvada offers its residents a free bus service to the airport from a local park-and-ride, so I’m hoping Parker may have something similar. The airport’s shuttles have been shaky at best, so we usually leave our car in a lot at the airport on short trips. For an upcoming trip that’s longer, we’d hoping for a local bus.
October 17th, 2009 at 7:02 am
There is a bus to DIA from all of the Park and Ride’s I believe.. I’ve only used the one by the Senior Center. It’s not free… but it’s pretty inexpensive compared to the lots at the airport.

Is there a news paper printing place in parker?

What is the name of the candy and gift store in downtown Parker?
December 4th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
You are probably thinking of Mountain Man Fruit and Nut, they have moved to a bigger location on Parker Road where the Alpine Lumber used to be just North of the Crossroads Shopping Center. There is a white gazebo and Christmas lights on the building.

Does anyone know the details about the fireworks in Parker on Dec 31? Where, what time etc. I see it is listed with ice carvings at Mainstreet on the home page of this website. Thanks

Is there a good salad bar lunch restaurant in Parker? My friends and I are dieting, but still like to go out to lunch. No Jason’s Deli, no Country Buffet, no Sweet Tomato….so where can we go?
March 29th, 2010 at 11:55 am
Johnny Carino’s has a salad bar and Tequila Joe’s, Falcon Brewery, Vines and The Warhorse all have excellent salad choices.
March 29th, 2010 at 6:49 pm
Thanks, Chrissy. I called Johnny Carino’s & was told they no longer have a salad bar – just a nice soup, salad & bread lunch on week-days.
March 30th, 2010 at 2:31 am
well shoot! Anyone else know of one in Parker? I just had the black bean salsa salad last night at Tequila Joe’s.. it’s awesome!

April 3rd, 2010 at 3:20 pm
I’d recommend Vines or Trappers.
April 4th, 2010 at 3:19 pm
Chrissy,
Will there be a Parker town/community flea market for some of us who would rather sell our goodies in a group atmosphere? I would love to be a part of it if you do! Don’t you think this would be an excellent affair? I think it would do great!
April 4th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
Ph, by the way, I live east from Delbert Road. Therefore, it would be wonderful to be able to take my things into town for a day or to. I have antiques to sell too. You could market the affair as antiques and lightly used items. Thanks

When is the Clarke Farms community garage sale this summer (2010)?
May 26th, 2010 at 1:33 pm
You should talk to Nanci Simmons of the Parker Farmers Market on Sunday.. She’s always roaming around and she might be your gal to organize an event like that.

I’m trying to locate Carl McSpadden who use to live in Okla. City, OK and worked for LSB Industries with me. A fellow employee and friend of Carl and mine has cancer and I’m trying to get the info to Carl. I believe Carl now lives in Parker. I can be reached at GTiernan@lsb-okc.com.

Does anyone know a retired Judge, Richard Toritelli? My dad and mom know him from the 70′s and he called my dad a few months ago. Dad is 87 and asked me to find his phone number so he could call him back and see how he is. If you know him, could you ask him to call his old friend Al G. that he called a few months back? Thanks alot.

This will likely draw a laugh or two, but… Where exactly is Parker Days located? I’m new to the area, and will be coming to the festivities beginning tomorrow. Would a newbie easily find the carnival by simply traveling South on Parker Road from Aurora?
June 12th, 2010 at 7:18 am
Hey Jeff! No problem.. If you don’t drive near Parker and Mainstreet you probably wouldn’t know…. but it’s at O’Brien Park, Parker and Mainstreet and spreads out to the mainstreet Center, I am just posting a new article so you can check that for mainstage schedules for the free concerts and of course the parade is at 10 a.m. Have fun!
June 23rd, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Will you publish info about how to get cheap tickets to Elitch Gardens?? A main goal of Elitch’s this year is to re-connect within the community, and regain it’s community image. Elitch’s has had a very vibrant 120 years in Denver, and they are trying to mend the seams left during the Six Flags era.
One way to do this, is they are offering their employee discounts to anyone who wants it. You can get the employee discount online at http://www.bit.ly/elitch. $16 off a one-day admission, $30 off a season pass.
Share with your family and friends. There is no limit.
Enjoy, see you at the park!

Hi Chrissy,
I am wondering if/how someone can get a booth at the Sunday Farmers Market? My 18 year old son does glass blowing and has some beautiful hand made pendants, but we are now looking for an outlet to sell them. Would this be an option?
Thank you!
Barb
July 2nd, 2010 at 7:40 am
Hey Barb, the person who runs the market in Nancy Simmons simmons03@att.net
August 1st, 2010 at 7:15 pm
I am new to Parker and was wondering if there is a plant waste service or place to drop off materials (i.e. grass clippings, leaves, etc.). The town I moved from had special bags and the Waste Management crews would take care of them curbside. I have only heard of garbage and recycling services. I would just hate to put bags of grass clippings in the garbage instead of putting them to a good use.
Thanks!
August 2nd, 2010 at 2:43 am
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by plant waste service? Some neighborhoods in Parker have your trash pickup as part of your HOA fee’s in other’s you have to contract one of the companies on your own and each one has different requirements, so you’d probably have to contact them. The best thing to do would be to ask one of your neighbors…. they most likely know the drill for your area of town.

We are a new Primary Care Practice in Parker. We have a Pediatrician, an Internal Medicine Doctor and a Family Practice Osteopathic Doctor. What is the best way to get the word out about our Health Center?
August 29th, 2010 at 5:50 pm
Where can I find a shop to sell my knitted things? Thanks!
August 30th, 2010 at 6:23 am
There are at least two places in Parker that have booth spaces I believe, one in the building just south of Mountain man on Parker road on the west side , and the other just south of Hess Road on Parker Road on the East side
