Parker CO Teen Court Seeking Program Volunteers

Have you heard about Parker’s Teen Court program?

This exciting program, which has been serving the Parker community for six years, provides teens with an opportunity to get involved in the court system and earn community service hours. Teen Court was started in an effort to involve youth in Parker in the judicial process and offer appropriate sentencing for juvenile offenders. This community-based program was designed to hold first-time juvenile misdemeanor offenders accountable, while also providing a positive and educational experience through peer mentoring.
The program is currently seeking teen volunteers to serve as jurors, bailiffs and attorneys. To serve as a teen attorney for the program, you must be at least 14 years old. All other positions are open to youth 12 to 17 years old. Teens can use time volunteered in court toward mandatory community service hours for graduation and honor societies, as well as on a job resume or college application.

Teen Court sessions are generally held Wednesday or Thursday evenings and the time commitment is as little as one evening per month. Training sessions are held once a year with additional advanced training sessions held throughout the year to improve performance. Volunteers will hear real Teen Court cases that involve a variety of charges including assault, destruction of property, disorderly conduct, ?reworks, littering, petty theft, possession of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and shoplifting.

A Teen Court orientation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. Interested teens are encouraged to attend and parents are welcome! Teen Court applications are available online at www.parkeronline.org/teencourt.

Please contact Sandra Gutierrez to confirm attendance or with additional questions at 303.805.3171 or sgutierrez@parkeronline.org

Top spots in Parker to watch Tim Tebow and the Broncos playoff game

Next Saturday everyone is going to be looking for a spot to watch our own Denver Broncos led by Tim Tebow and John Elway! we’ll be wearing orange and blue everything and getting ready to cheer on and yell at the big screen filled with gridiron action.

Where should you go to watch the Bronco Playoff Game in Parker?

You have several options in Parker if you want to stay close to home and support our local economy.

FunuGyz – not only will this bar have crazy bronco fans in the house they are also having a super hero shindig so this just might be the craziest place in town. They passed out free Bronco blue shots at halftime, offer their full menu have more tv’s than any place else in town. There really is not a bad seat in the house.

tailgate tavern and grill denver bronco playoff game

Tailgate Tavern – Always a fun crowd with Bronco drink specials, lots of tv’s, great green chili and of course the best location in Parker right on Mainstreet.

Score Bar – A newcomer this year but quickly becoming a spot to meet up for beers, pool and beer pong. Their guacamole is fabulous and they offer quite a few tap beers. In regular and giant mug sizes. TV’s are plentiful.

Takoda Tavern – The owner of Takoda has the best Bronco memorabilia in town with opening day pennants from the early years and the best view of the Bronco sunsets in Douglas County. The menu consists of all the regular bar food you would expect. The hot shot burger is a personal favorite.

Servino’s Underground – Another newcomer to Parker located underneath the Victorian Peaks business park offering lots of seating, pool tables, and some nice big screen tv’s.

You should plan on arriving early to any of these locations if you want the best choice of seating to see the Bronco playoff game.

If you know about the special events happening at any of these locations or anything we’ve missed please feel free to add it in the comments below.
