Homes for our Troops looking for volunteer in Elizabeth CO

My friend and fellow examiner Vickie Wallisthe Elbert County Examiner – has been instrument in getting the word out about this worthy cause for someone who gave to us and his country in the Gulf War.  He was severely injured and need the help from his local community… Following is an excerpt from Vickie’s article and a plea for help in getting LCplKade Hinkhouse and his wife a place to live.  Please read and consider whether you have time to give back to someone who has giving so much for his love of our country.

Many readers will have been following the building of a Homes for Our Troops home in Elizabeth over the last several months.  The home, being built for LCpl Kade Hinkhouse and his wife Becky is sponsored by the Homes for Our Troops charity and is largely completed due to donations of materials and skills.

The home is being built under the supervision of Aaron Lovelace in the Elbert County subdivision of Wild Pointe and showcases the LEED (Leadership in  Energy and Environmental Design) principles of building a home which is environmentally friendly as well as being efficient to run.  Lovelace, who is certified LEED AP Homes is working to ensure the highest rating for the home for its certification.  The rating, which takes into account a variety of factors including local sourcing of materials, amount of recycled materials as well as energy efficiency methods such as solar panels. The home is also specially adapted for LCpl Hinkhouse who was severely injured while on patrol in Iraq.

August 21st at 8am is the start of Volunteer Day – Please see the remainder of Vickies article here if you have time you could give.
