We just visited the new restaurant in town… Tequila Joe’s Mexican Kitchen and it promises to be our new favorite.

It is located on 20 Mile in the Super Target Shopping center (in the space where BB’s Bistro used to be for you “old timers”)

This patio has always been one of my favorite spots in Parker!

This is the tequila menu along with the complimentary  oven heated chips and homemade salsa… not too spicy but definitely NOT boring.

The owners Wayne & Jeff  have totally remodeled and have fantastic food, drinks, service and prices.

I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga.  It comes Smothered with the BEST green chili I’ve had in a very long time.. you can just see the huge chunks of Pork.  The dish itself had a unique smoky quality to it that was really addicting.  As you can see from the empty glass, the Margarita’s are very tasty as well and at $5… a great value!

My husband had the Chicken Burrito which also came smothered in the Pork Green Chili. The portions were huge and was incredibly flavor filled with href=”http://whatscookingamerica.net/tomatillos.htm”>Tomatillos, peppers, onions, and a plethora of spices.   I thought he was going to lick his plate it was so good!

Jason was our waiter and he was great!  Had suggestions and took the time to explain a few of his favorite things on the menu as well as explain some of their unique drink specials including a sangria swirl which is a frozen margarita with a swirl of Sangria through it… Sounds awfully good and I’m planning on trying it the next time I go.

Will be having dinner there one night this week.

  2. Ed Gadden says:

Not sure what the deal with the music is. Kenny Loggins Top Gun and other 80's related annoying songs. Also, I am never that impressed with Mexican restaurants that can't make their own chips and salsa. Prices were good. Food okay. Service so-so.

  3. We went last week, service was good, food excellent. Tell me Ed, what mexican restaurants make their own chips nowadays? The salsa is homemade!

  4. We ate there this past week. We were not impressed at all. I'm still trying to find a decent Mexican restaurant in Colorado.

  5. Lori, may I ask where your from? what style of Mexican food do you prefer?

  6. Had lunch on Saturday. Great food and service. Fish tacos were excellent. We'll be going back soon.

  7. i stopped by there last week to check the place out.. lots of employees, hardly anyone in there.. the bar already had two old men ogling the new bartendress.. the chips were pretty stale, even though they were warm. yuck.. the salsa had hardly any kick to it..my rabbit can make a salsa that style.. the prices were just a bit for the portions, but the rent is pretty high.. the margies were okay, it would be better if she was able to free pour vs a spout. cause they make the house margies ahead of time, a different person can make a different batch each time. so you might get a good one, or a bad one. depends on who made the batch that day.. my overall impression was, meh.. at least the servers and the bartendress was enthusiastic. one person i didnt see walk the floor was either an owner or manager.. they need to be on the floor glad handing everyone that comes in..

  8. family went on sunday…salsa & chips were ok. chips from a bag, warmed up. mmmm. service was mediocre…i only took a couple bites & was not happy NOT knowing there were chilis in the actual food. (my palate cannot handle too spicy) & the waitress didn't bother to ask if there was anything 'wrong'. won't be going back. six months – one year..TOPS.

  9. I can't get enough of the food at this Mexican Restaurant! I've been for lunch 3 times, dinner twice and happy hour once…. The food is awesome, very complex flavors not your average bland spot. The review above confused me… aren't there peppers in ALL Mexican food? That's kind of the point! :) The service has always been very good and they don't skimp on the tequila at happy hour!

  10. Went there for the first time Friday night with our 3 kids and their grandmother. We arrived and asked for crayons for the kids. They brought 1 box of 4 crayons for 3 kids to share. We had to ask for more to avoid battles over crayon colors. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer. Took forever to show up and it when it did, our server took the chips away for some reason. She eventually brought us some chips but we weren't missing much. As mentioned earlier, the chips are very stale. Not sure how that happens in Colorado. Those that live here know that chips last forever in our dry climate. Also, pretty sure that the guacamole came from a bag. Really terrible. Our server then brought us 5 silverware rolls for the 6 of us to share. Had to ask for more silverware. Ordered the Joe's fajitas for dinner which is a chicken/steak/shrimp combo. Not even a single shrimp on the plate but it did show up with chicken and steak (we were charged for the shrimp though). Frustrating part is that it showed up with 1 tortilla so I immediately asked for more knowing that 1 wouldn't do the job. I ate the 1 and waited another 10 minutes or so before another 1 showed up. By then, the fajitas were cold which was disappointing. That said, the flavor of the fajitas wasn't bad, although the beef was fairly tough. Word from the others was that their entrees were ok, but not great.

Overall, the service was terrible and the food just ok. The $3 happy hour margarita is a good deal and pretty tasty, but doesn't make up for everything else that's wrong with this place. There are too many good mexican restaraunts in Colorado to waste your time going here.

  11. Tequila Joe's has a great drink special! During any NFL football game they serve $1 draft beer. It was a nice surprise when we got our bill after having dinner and some drinks while watching the Broncos game. We will definitely be back!

  12. Tequila Joe's was AWFUL!!! Started out with drinks. My husbands beers were warm. My first margarita was okay. So I thought that I would try the $13.00 Cartel. It tasted good but 1/3 of the Cartel was frothy. So basically I could only drink 2/3 of the drink. When the food came out it was cold. I ordered the flauta wrap. The wrap was cold and so was the steak. When the waitress took it back, I thought that I would get a fresh wrap back. Instead, they reheated the plate, I assume in a microwave. When she brought it back out it was soggy. The lettuce and guacamole was hot and that is how I could tell it was reheated. My husband and I are always willing to try and support the local Parker business, due to the economy but we will not be back. This is the worst $60.00 that I have spent in a long time. It killed me to give the waitress my credit card and have to pay for this meal. I wouldn't go back if the meal was free. In my opinion, Old Sante Fe has the best mexican food in Parker.

    • Food is such a subjective thing… :) I've always had a fabulous experience at Tequila Joe's and have hated the service and food at Old Sante Fe.. I guess its great that there are so many Mexican restaurants in Parker to choose from. I also really like Guadalajara's. What do you think of that place?

  13. Try Las Delicias on Main Street, Parker, Co

    Great food with reasonable prices.

  14. Tortilla chips cold and stale. Food was very good however.

Menus need to be redone using a more readable typeface

Steel chairs grab coats as you try to squeez between tables when entering or exiting restaurtant. Noisy atmosphere, need to shout to dinner partner at same table.

  15. John Levins says:

We love this place, going at least twice a month if not even weekly. Nice atmosphere, great service, and wonderful food. We highly recommend the carnitas – holy smack – cooked so tender, top with the side of green chili that comes with, you'll love it! Chips and salsa (spicy) are great. Good margaritas too. And no, we're just customers, not friends or employees – try it out! John and Stephanie.

  16. Ate at Tequilla Joe's last night. The chips were stale. Haven't they read all the comments? I ordered the Chipotle enchilada with shrimp and crab. Where is the canned crab? The beans and rice are so plain. No garnish for any of our meals.. not even cilantro. Husband ordered fish taco, said it was plain. Our girls had kids meals. I'll just say my little one thought the burrito was gross. What a dissapointment.. we wanted a good Mexican place and love the patio. We won't be back and without some major changes.. they won't make it.

  17. DELICIOUS! I had the Chicken Tacos NAKED since I am gluten free. Our server asked about the chips and was told they are 100% gluten free. The .99 House Margarita was fantastic. Everything seemed fresh. I love Mexican food and try it everywhere, BUT with my diet restrictions I don't try everything so I can't comment on all the meals others have tried. Great prices.

Re: above: I guess we all have different tastes!

I recommend at least trying! I have a friend who recommended to me and LOVES LOVES LOVES TJ's.

    Barb in Castle Rock

    • The Chips are Gluten Free? Wow. maybe that's why some people don't like them and other's rave about them! Mexican food is SOO subjective but I agree with you LOVE TJ's!

  18. Some of the best chips I enjoy are gluten free, and marked gluten free, are from COSTCO, the big giant bag. Gluten usually doesn't have a taste, it's a binder. Now, bread that's "WHEAT" free, now that's a different story…you'd be missing taste. Mexican is one of the easiest ways to eat out for Celiacs and people on other wheat/gluten free diets. Very tasty and satisfying given limitations on food selection.

  19. KG in Parker says:

Couldn't pass up an opportunity to enjoy dinner and cocktails on the patio in November. We tried the Crispy Rellenos and Stuffed Chicken Wrap. Both were exceptional. The staff was very attentive and the food was served up quickly and hot. The soppapias where excellent. Great atmosphere and a friendly staff. Tequila Joe's is on our A list.

  20. My wife and I went to Tequila Joe's last night. The service was great, and the food was good too. Not my favorite Mexican joint, but I really liked it and we'll definitely be back again. The owner or manager checked up on us and thanked us on the way out. Overall: good food, great service and a nice atmosphere.

  21. I love their salsa…. its kickin!

  22. Fathergoose says:

When I took my daughter there for lunch the person they said was the manager had his pants sagging so low it was hard for him to walk. We will not go back.

    • That was the assistant manager and he no longer works there.. Just fyi. :) The manager/owner Jeff always has dress slacks, dress shirt and often a tie.
