Free Movies in the Park Doctor Noise at the Bluffs Lone Tree CO
Posted by: | CommentsFree movies in the park are a sensation in South Denver this year with offerings in Castle Rock, Parker, Highlands Ranch and now Lone Tree CO. Several neighborhood associations also sponsor these movies so for recession proof, free fun in the summer, keep an eye out for the announcements.
On Saturday, August 28, 2010, the Big Screen on the Bluffs is not only showing a great animated movie “Planet 51″, additionally at 6:30 p.m. kids and adults will both be able to enjoy the unique musical stylings Doctor Noize aka Cory Cullinan. This engaging an innovative performer plays multiple instruments while arranging and recording songs, on the spot. You really need to witness him for yourself. It’s sure to be a fun time.
At dusk get ready for the movie on the Big Screen on the Bluffs “Planet 51″ an animated movie about an American astronaut who lands on a strange planet and thinks he’s discovered it. The only thing is the friendly little green people think he’s there to take over their planet. The Big Screen on the Bluff is huge! Standing over 24 feet it’s inflated and placed on the multi-purpose playing field of Prairie Sky Park next to the Lone Tree Recreation Center.

Food vendors, a Passport to Culture craft activity, face painters and airbrush artists all combine to create a fun and festive time for your family nice and close to home.

Many art forms will be represented including:
- painting in a wide variety of media,
- drawing,
- pastels,
- pottery,

- sculpture and more.
There will live entertainment in the gazebo both days. The Parker Chorale and an ensemble from the Denver Performing Arts HS will perform on Saturday and Sunday.
The Town of Parker, Sunday afternoon concert will be from 1 to 3 pm.
This is a family friendly event with things for the kids to do including a face painting booth (for a small charge) and a childrens art station sponsored by The Academy of Art in Parker where you create your own art project.
Soft drinks, snacks and hot entrée lunches will be sold both days.
The art show is sponsored by the Parker Artists Guild (PAG) of Parker. PAG membership includes artists from Parker, Castle Rock, Aurora, Highlands Ranch, Douglas and Elbert County and the south metro area.
Membership is open to all media. PAG was formed in 2001 and has grown to about 200 members this year. Our mission is to promote the visual arts and raise awareness of local artists in the community. Back 2 School Skate at the Parker Fieldhouse Parker CO
Posted by: | CommentsAugust marks the beginning of the traditional school calendar so to bid farewell to summer the Parker Recreation Department is offering a Back 2 School Skate.
Students can start the new school year off right at the second annual Back 2 School Skate! Grab your skates and bring a friend!
Saturday, Aug. 7 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Join your classmates and show off your skating skills and school spirit. Activities will include skating games such as spider races, crab races, the classic limbo and wolf tag. In addition, the Pinnacle climbing wall will be open and available for FREE use from 6 to 8 p.m. Remember to bring your own skates and a waiver signed by your parent in order to climb. Don’t forget to wear your school colors because the school with the most skaters will win a special prize!
Advance tickets are $5 are now available for purchase at the Parker Fieldhouse. Tickets will be $6 at the door and you can get $1 off with a canned food donation for the Parker Task Force. Non-skating parents are admitted free.

Parents Night Out Saturday August 14 at the Parker Fieldhouse Parker CO

Everyone can enjoy an evening of PLAY! Turf, gym and inline games will keep the kiddos active and burning energy.
Organized games and activities will be led by experienced recreation staff to keep participants entertained the whole night. The climbing wall will be open for a portion of the night so be sure to have a climbing wall waiver signed in advance or be prepared to sign one at check-in. Open inline skating will also be held, but skates are not provided.
For those kids who need a break from the action, short family-friendly movies will be shown. Coloring activities and other crafts will also be available and as an added bonus, karaoke will be featured for those aspiring pop-stars!
Send the kids with athletic shoes, skates, water bottles and snacks or give them some money for concessions and vending machines. Hot dogs, pizza, pretzels and much more will be available for purchase.
Registration for individual children is open online at www.ParkerRec.com. The fee is $15 for the first child and $10 for each additional sibling. NOTE: Registration fees will increase by $5 per child one week prior to the event.
