Abacus is considered the most effective way to introduce math for young children and strengthen arithmetic skills.

abacus for Fun with Math Parker ColoradoLearning abacus math trains the student’s brain to use the left hemisphere (rational side) to manipulate the virtual abacus (image) on the right hemisphere (creative side). This unique exercise promotes and strengthens the brain function and can help improve the following areas: helps to develop a concrete idea for numbers, improves memory retention and recall skills, concentration and mental endurance, visualization and listening skills.

Parker Farmers Market is BACK!

parker farmers market, parker colorado,Starting Today Sunday May 3rd 2009, the One, the Only, the Original Parker Farmers Market is back for the season.

The Market opened to a great crowd and more beautiful weather than was anticipated for Sunday. My take is that the owner and organizer, Nanci Simmons must be doing something right!  My favorite vendors were all there,  the burrito lady with her green chili bean burritos.. Spicy if you please!, A Farmer at both ends offering their fabulous fresh picked veggies including Peppers, Onions, Potatoes, Squash, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Broccoli and more, a few fresh bread makers with their yummy samples, fresh eggs, hand made soaps, a new Colorado coffee roasting company with samples,  lots of peoples adorable dogs, a magician/comedian to amuse the youngsters.

The flower basket guy is back! He was a staple for 5 years and was missed last year so I’m so happy he’s back.  I bought a six pack of ready to plant herbs from him and they are gorgeous and fragrant and a great value at 6 for $15.  There was also a coupon for $2.00 off any of his baskets.

I was proud that I stood firm with the “NO FLOWERS until after Mother’s Day” Colorado Gardening Law, but this market boasts three or more local vendors who sell  flowers, vegetables and herb plants for your garden,  so I’m sure to pick some up soon.

I spoke to Ms Simmons and she was pleased with how many vendors participated this first weekend back and their Parker Fan’s were obviously out and excited that summer is almost here.
