From Summit to Soldier – An Parker event to raise funds for troops overseas

Troops need you fundraiser in Parker ColoradoHave you wondered what you could do to tangibly help our troops in Iraq? Prayer is always needed, but on top of that, sharing what we have with the men and women who selflessly give themselves in the service to our country seems a small price to pay to support them in their missions both here and abroad.

Parker local and former marine Chris Faust is doing just that by spearheading an indoor rock wall speed climbing competition at the Parker Fieldhouse April 24  to support Troops Need You, a 501c3 charity.  Troops Need You has received national attention for building a community of 20,000 supporters who deliver needed supplies to soldiers and Marines on the home front, and in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Each dollar raised will directly support troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with mission-related supplies.

The event begins at noon, and the United States Marine Corps and Air Force will present first place awards at 5:30 p.m.

Speed climbing consists of a climber trying to reach the top of the rock wall in the fastest time possible. Each climber is allowed three attempts, and there is a separate wall for each division.

April 24th 2010

Start time: Noon

Awards Presented at 5:30 p.m. by the United States Marine Core and the United States Air Force.

The Parker Fieldhouse
18700 East Plaza Drive
Parker, CO 80134-9494

Climbers and registration fees: Beginners and children 10 and younger, $10. Advanced climbers, $15. Open climbers, $20. To register, visit www.faustservices.com/registration.

Chris Faust is spearheading the event and hopes to raise over $1,000.

What is Troops Need You? This group was founded not only to support the troops emotionally but to also “go beyond the care package” and supply them with the things they really need! Watch this video for more information.

You can make an immediate change in the lives of soldiers by directly supporting a deployed unit or healing warrior here at home.

Become a Battle Buddy!

Each week a different need is highlighted and this week Capt Ness in Muqdadiyah Iraq. He and his troop are working to build soccer fields for the local kids and provide them with sports equipment, nets, balls and jerseys to provide them with something fun and positive to have in their lives. See his requests in the video below.
