Parker Master Gardener offering classes

Parker Recreation is offering a class, taught by a Master Gardener, covering gardening basics for our unique climate: soil, weather, mulch, fertilizer, Xeriscaping, lawn care, pests, selection and care of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and more!
Plant lists will be handed out to help you create a beautiful and successful garden for your home. This is a great refresher class for seasoned gardeners too.

Basketball Camp
Four-time NBA All-Star Chauncey Billups is bringing his Basketball Academy to the Parker Fieldhouse June 29 to July 2.
Chauncey Billups has developed a philosophy along with his camp coaches that is instrumental to a young person’s basketball career. That philosophy is to have fun while learning and competing in this wonderful sport. Our mission is to teach each camper how to enjoy the game while developing fundamental skills.
Registration is now open online at www.ParkerRec.com for youth ages 6 to 17. Hurry as space is limited! Each camper will receive a t-shirt and basketball.

Bethany graduated from Ponderosa and Cosmetology School in 2004 and has been doing updo’s for prom’s, weddings, graduations and other special events since she went to Chapparal for 7th & 8th Grade. She has finally come home to Parker to style hair at the new salon just opening on Mainstreet!

March Blizzard in Parker

After all the dire predictions for the March blizzard, it was a fairly mild storm for us here in Parker. Where we ususally are one of the hardest hit in the Metro area, this storm arrived late and left early leaving only 5-6 inches of snow behind which if you were diligent and shoveled your driveway’s and sidewalks are totally dry by noon. I did add a beautiful picture of the gazebo to the top banner. If you have photo’s of the snow at your house and would like to share, I will post them on the site in the photo tour of Parker page. I will of course credit you for the photo’s. The kids sure are enjoying the snow days… a rare occurance for Douglas County Schools. Enjoy!
